The new RAD02 Corsa Evo by Radical Ducati & Beltrance.com

Some time ago Pepo Rosell, owner of Radical Ducati, told me that he was working in a beautiful new bike. And here it is, the new RAD02 Corsa Evo where you can find the carbon fiber solo seat that I designed and modelled in clay for him. Now it’s retouched to fill some slight bumps and looks really streamlined. I hope you like this bike and remember that you can buy the seat that can be used in some of the standard Ducati models. And of course you can also buy the bike if you like it! You can see the rest of the pictures in Radical Ducati Blog.
I’ve also found a new video about the RAD02 Corsa Evo PURSANG. Enjoy it!

The first Centre Hub Steering Moto2 it’s on the racetrack and it’s not our bike!

The new Vyrus MOTO2 with Centre Hub Steering it’s on the racetrack and it seems that couls be the surprise for the next year.

Do you think it will race the next year Moto2 worl championship? Do you think it can win races? Watch this videos and please send your opinions, as you can imagine they are very important for us in this case.

The only thing I can say in this moment it’s that looks as a master piece of engineering.

A weekend at Silverstone. (World SuperBikes Championship)

As I told you in the latest short posts I’ve been to the Silverstone racetrack to enjoy a wonderful races weekend. We had barely complete access to the Honda team box and we could also see the other teams’ boxes. I’ve met journalist of other countries and so I have learnt a bit more about this great job.

I arrived to the airport and a chauffeur in a black E class Mercedes was waiting for me, nice beginning…

After some traffic jam we arrived to the paddock and then to the Honda-Castrol hospitality, our headquarters.

Unfortunately Xaus wasn’t there, his back is still bad. Too bad to fly from Spain. In other hand Jonathan Rea, also injured, was there to answer our question about the team and the bikes. We meet also Alex Lowes (Rea substitute) and Fabrizio Lai (substitute of Xaus substitute (Karl Muggeridge). Karl Had a bicycle crash. Really a bad year for TenKate Castrol Honda Team. Well, continuing with this luck, also Lowes hits the ground and breaks it first bike.

But obviously the best won. Checa won! 2 of 2 races, great!

And the BMWs finished next. Why is the Superbikes dominated by European bikes? That’s a difficult question to answer…

The Ducati is a completely different bike, 2 cilynders and rear one sided swingarm, and the only one with tubular frame. Here the work of the performance engineers it’s really important but also the base bike must have an amazing performance to reach to a good level. Think I love more about the races was the equilibrium between the bikes. No big difference makes these races quite interesting to see.

I think WSBK have a new follower…

Far from the chauffeur, the amazing Spa Hotel , the food and that insignificant staff, I went to get the most info I could about the bikes. I took thousand of pictures of rear suspensions and swing arms and I’ll try to apply all that information in LAMOTO2. Don’t miss it!

No Bump-Steering LAMOTO2 Center Hub Steering Solution

LA MOTO2 PROJECT suspension 1 from Beltrance on Vimeo.

As you probably had noticed, if you used to come to this café, it has been closed for a while. We’ve been really busy with the LAMOTO2 project and with other projects that unfortunately are paused (hope that not stopped)
Here in Spain you can read monthly about our progress but not abroad. So I wanted to show at least a part of what we’re doing.
First of all this little video.
Take a seat and enjoy our delicious coffee!

I have prepared a mini video to show the idea of the system that carries our moto2. In yellow you can see the vertical arm. The thick lines is the part and then up thinner line the real steering axis. The pink line is the top of the steering column of the system, which looks like a fork. When the system compresses the top is “folded”. Therefore there is a ball joint in the joint, to absorb this inclination. Initially the diference is 2 degrees, not zero on purpose. To ensure that the “fold ” goes forward and not backward. At the end it arrives to 7 degrees of tilt for a compression of 120mm. These 7 degrees is absorbed by the green piece that goes in the front of the bike (this is why is a plate) plate that flexes the 7 degrees but kept intact the steer stiffness, work in shear effort. Another thing you see is that the center of the wheel follows almost the same path as a 12 degrees fork. Thus the pilot feel much like a conventional bike and trust the bike from the start.

Center Hub Steering LAMOTO2

With this trick, the mechanism, that is an evolution from the patent of the D1200R Demonstener solve the problem of getting a direct steering to the Hub Center Steering System. In this case applied to a system derived from the Difazio. This was one of the desired conditions in the project (no Bump-Steering). If you look you will see that history is an evolution of our prehistoric V2R StreetDumper

Center Hub Steering LAMOTO2 Detail

Hi everybody!

This is a present for all the builders and designers that want to build an Honda based motorcycle, and specially for those who want to build a MOTO2.

Probably you know that we’re building an alternative suspension MOTO2 for the CEV.

We have scanned and rebuilt the complete CBR 600RR engine from a digitalized. I hope you’ll like it. The critical points are perfect but obviously the rest it’s closer and in the worst places can be over +-5mm.

If you were a reader of this blog you’ve  probably seen I’ve got less time to write. But please send all your comments o doubts and I’ll try to answer you  ASAP :-)

See you here at the NewConceptsCafé!
